I was out and about a few days ago and decided to travel Trans Mountain road instead of I10 to get places, I'm glad I did. It was late afternoon and I couldn't resist this scene. The picnic area overlooks West El Paso, Canutillo and New Mexico on the horizon.

Yes it is ... but a lot of the military who move here go into shock because they are from places like Seattle or Michigan or Ohio or some other lush green spot in our country, its pretty dry and there are no forests for 100s of miles.

I do love the view, I can remember how in 1973 all that you'd see from up there would be desert, agriculture fields or farms/ranches, I miss that.

Yes, they did make it into a nice park with concrete picnic tables that have canopies above them to protect you from the heat and asphalt to park your cars on.
