"An Evolution of Toys" -- Surreal Digital Art...

This surreal digital art piece came together over a week's worth of time. It started with the gumball machine, then I added the mechanical men, the bowl, the whirligig, the doll and the airplane. I shared a poem a little over a week ago which has been edited and added at the bottom of this post.

Originally crafted to a print size of 17 inches by 11 inches @200 dpi

"An Evolution of Toys"

that hard candy shell on enlightenment

is a worrisome nut to crack

but if you savor its difficulties slowly

it can meld in your mind with some facts

like a gumball of knowledge dissolving

rushing with heightened mentality

lightening sensations cascade

under breezes of mind blowing reality

pieces to puzzles are found

in neurons' synaptic folds

implicated relations connect

while sweeping realizations flow

tumblers click to their places

an unnoticed fog disappears

the overall picture goes clearer

and the brain finds a range of new gears

the world becomes quite different

more gritty and glorious to behold

a burst of heady enlightenment

will alter the perspective of a soul

Bill ~ This surreal digital art piece is dynamic in terms of its clarity and color elements.

I would have thought that you started with the doll or the whirligig, but you've surprised me be telling us that you started out with the gumball machine.

Beautifully done, and David, of course is right when he tells you that you are very talented. But, don't get the BIG head ~ lol...

While thinking on how I wanted to fill the image I knew I would want something big to balance against the gumball machine. When the idea of a rag-doll came along one of my muses just went crazy for creating it. Except for her hair, she is completely hand (mouse) drawn. For her hair I twisted many plastic shopping bags together and sewed them to a piece of cardboard. Then I processed a photo of that into red to cobble the hair together.

The image is much easier to read with the poem next to it! The robots are rushing to become enlightened, as is the toy airplane! (And why shouldn't inanimate objects seek enlightenment?)

The doll appears to be quite deeply in the "unnoticed fog" of recreational drugs (or some addiction).

Have the "breezes of reality" blown over the pinwheel?
