Introduction

Behind the mask was a woman who had seen more than she needed to see. She was somebody who nobody knew, but whom everyone could relate to whether they knew it or not. She was headed on a journey that would take her to this place from which she could take the time to escape from what she had been through. She had been emotionally, mentally, and physically drained by a monster of a man that she never wanted to see again in her life. She despised him. She loathed him.
The whole ordeal had taken a toll on her psyche. There were so many things that she wished she could forget, but the main thing she wanted to forget was ~ that man ~ that demon. All that represented him made her sick. He was a control freak that cared for no one but himself and his money. He gobbled up people like the pac man animated character. He always had an ulterior motive for everything that he did. And, nothing he did was ever godly. He had none of the qualities of the people that raised her. Nothing he did was like the way she had been raised. She had been raised to be kind and caring to people. To love them as she loved herself. To speak to people in the way that she would like to be spoken to. She was not a harsh, nor brash person. But right now, she didn't know if she loved herself. She didn't even know who she was anymore.
There was an art poster that the demon had purchased that he hung in her room. That heathen mind that he had was ever working. And most of the time it was ever working against her. He did it to make her feel bad about herself. But, what had happened was just the opposite, it gave her the ability to see something in that art poster that wasn't readily seen by anyone not looking for it. That art poster was by Mario Sanchez Nevado. It depicted a woman who had been shattered it seemed. Shattered Pretty in her eyes. It brought to her mind the fire that God had placed within her. The fire that would transform her into gold. She could see within that woman in the art poster a movement that was causing her to shatter...shatter to the point of breaking free of the ugliness that enslaved her.
She still had her soul. She knew that much. She knew that what was within her she would never lose. Hurray for the ability to move forward. She suddenly felt a glimmer of hope emerging. Thank God for the train. Just thank God...

On the train ride, she thought, and she thought, and she thought some more. It seemed she had become somewhat of a dummy after having been involved with the creature from hell. Whenever she would speak, he would look at her as if she were a piece of trash. The bastard! She hated him. He'd say things like, “I don't know what you're talking about.” Sometimes in a loud harsh tone, and sometimes in a very sinister low tone. Then he'd look at her like 'what a stupid girl you are'. He'd tell her ~ no matter what she said ~ that it made no sense. He had a demeaning spirit. His looks and his words had a castrating effect, if there is such a thing, she thought. His whole existence made no sense to her. Why did God even create him? He was a self-absorbed psychopath. What was the purpose of birthing that demonic spirit? The world would be a much better place without him ~ she thought. She was convinced that he was not a child of God, but of that other father ~ the wicked one.
She was only 20 years old, and yet she seemed ancient in her mind. She felt like she was more around 120 years old. The one thing that she never wanted to do was to even think his name into the atmosphere. He was eternally a nobody to her. She was going to treat him just like he treated her ~ like a nobody. Her goal was to erase him from her spirit. She would eradicate everything he had ever done to her ~ in word or deed.
Just as she thought that thought, she had a flashback of her hand on that broken window...

And as she saw the scene of it in her mind, she winced. Only the neighbor heard her. Only the neighbor understood what was happening to her. Her neighbor had watched. And with her fine tuned ears, her neighbor had heard. She finally found out what her neighbor's name was only after her neighbor had taken her to the hospital, and kindly waited for them to examine her, and then release her back into her neighbor's care. They got to know each other only then. Only after she had been somewhat freed from what had seemed like her endless prison.
After the police report had been filed. Her neighbor helped her to get on the train with the money she had received from her church. She cried as she left her at the train depot. She had seen the tears roll down her face. She was unable to cry any tears any more herself, so she supposed that her neighbor had shed tears for the both of them. She could only look back at her neighbor once she put one foot on the step of that train, and know. She knew then with each tear drop that fell on the inside of her that there were caring people in the world. There were people who cared, and loved, and hurt, and also knew how to feel compassion for others. She finally understood that there were some people that were not rude, nor crude, nor callous. She knew it. She could sense it. She could feel it. Leaving New York was the best thing that had happened to her and for her good in a long time. She had prayed for it. Could it be that she was on her way to experience it ~ happiness? She wondered.
Then another thought flashed through her mind ~ She remembered the moment the Train Attendant spoke to her and asked her what her name was...
She couldn't remember for a second what her name was. Then she heard someone behind her in line to get on board the train say, “What is SHE doing?!” That is what the monster used to call her, “She”. He would always refer to her as, “She”. She didn't have a name that he would speak out loud. That just seared her through and through ~ hearing whoever the man was say those words.
She was sitting in her seat next to no one. By herself. Alone. She was contemplating what Albuquerque, New Mexico would be like. Who would she meet? What would her place look like. The church had a home there waiting for her. But what would it look like? How would her neighbors be?
Thinking, thinking, and then finally, right there in her seat, by herself, alone, she stopped thinking and softly feel asleep.
...to be continued...

God is good ~ all the time Carol, and the people we meet hold keys to the wonderment of life. What great Gather Friends we have!
I'm so glad you like the pictures and the story ~ It gets even more intriguing when the characters of Shattered Pretty come into it!
EXCITING and thank you for getting this wonderful adventure going
It will look much better, and the feel will come through much better, I think, when I get the two photos that are supposed to go in this ~ actually IN this. (smiles) it was a rough ride introducing this to all of Gather. And yet, I know the ride will get wilder, and wilder, and W I L D E R!
I'm going to have to really be prepared for the March 1st Launch! I hope everybody is ready!
Great intro, Rene. We're all waiting in the wings............
I'm thinking about all the people this 20 year old will meet after she gets off that train...
This is sure to be a drama, a thriller, and even humerous along the way ~ Your imagination skills will come in handly in this Epic you know (smiling)...
I wonder if Barbary can imagine?
Oh, yes, I can imagine your scenario. I have that man in my past, also, the one that stalked me, told me how ugly I was, threw his supper against the wall, tried to kill me. Oh, yes.
Fighten' words: At least three of us in this group own swords!
Lady Mary
And the train was one of two photos that would not give a problem loading ~ might be a sign ~ lol...
Barbary ~ this is a topic that many people will not touch, but that needs seriously to be out in the open until it become eliminated from our global society. Just hearing about the woman (many of them) raped repeatedly by a group of men...women killed and dismembered...women beaten until dead...held up in misery without rescue for years...
Yes, and STALKERS! They are the worse (well shouldn't say the worse), but they have serious mental issues.
Gotta have our swords Lady Mary!
This is going to be sent out to a lot of other Gather Groups in two minutes!
when we write a post?
They may be a little confused by the comments if they do not know about what is going on with Shattered Pretty.
Hi Barbary (Lady Mary) and Pam ~
Pam thanks, and please do follow us on Gather. This is an Epic ~ it never ends...we'll all be here, plus others no doubt, because as people join in on the reading they can also join in on the character development and become a character in Shattered Pretty. There is no deadline. It never ends in Our Shattered Pretty world ~
We'll be glad to have you any time Pam. We know you are going to do a good job on Twisted Stories II.
You'll understand what is going on with Shattered Pretty in no time Pam.
It is a lot of FUN ~ Barbary, Richard, Yoshi, Katherine, mary, Carol, Angie, Debbie, Lisa, Lynn, d g, Ms. Lee, Priscilla, Shari, and Connie C. will all tell you the same thing ~ and now Granny Janny has joined us!
We'll see you around Pam ~
I can't wait until your character comes into this Epic ~ oh my ~
I'll never forget that.
At any rate, this intro leaves an opening for all sorts of things to happen in Shattered Pretty ~ so I'm sure everyone can work up an imagination on how their character will play a role in this un~named "She"'s life.
And just wait until the other characters start up with their own personal adventures and sagas in Shattered Pretty ~ WHEW ~ WHOO! This is really going to be a SHOCKER!
"Name is Jed and I think I'm dead, but I don't remember dying." ~ Jed
And it just got better and better from there!
What a stitch you are ~ and a creative soul indeed. I loved your Bio. It inspired me to get mine done.
I'm telling you Gather has been slow as a snail stuck in the mud today. Thank goodness I was able to post Episode One without a problem. Must have been a divine being in the area ~ lol...
And, I think you are right Granny Janny ~ More people are hollering on Gather since this came out. It is amazing watching that scroll thing for a moment or two while you're waiting for Gather to click into gear. This place is hopping!
I'm thinking about everybody's Bios. Not to mention the photos supplied, and the talk that is going on in Our Character Development Work Space ~ amazing stuff...Which reminds me ~ Gráinne Ní Mháille has been trying to upload a photo for eternity. We've got to help her out.
WE thank you! You'll get to get a feel for all of the Characters in Shattered Pretty ~ and how they write!
Stay tuned ~
Awwww a demon is always charming until he has captured you.
Okay. I get the basis of the story. The mystery lady arrives in town and the Shattered Pretty characters are to meet her. My character, Ms Lee doesn't like meeting people and is always suspicious of anyone new. I'll see if I can figure out how she and her donkey, Mabel, can meet this lady. (my character introduction is here, Ms Lee and Mabel)
However, if you have ever seen the show "Snapped" ~ you'll see another horrible side to continued abuse ~ even perceived abuse.
You're also right about this ~ "Awwww a demon is always charming until he has captured you." ~ Ms Lee
That's where discernment comes in, and also flat out rejecting the lies they tell. Those kinds of spirits will suck the life right out of you if allowed.
Oh ~ so sweet of you to provide a link. Maybe we all should do that in the comments when referring to anything here in Our Character Development Work Space. Because it is rather perilous trying to find anything in here, and I can't understand why ~ I have 50 million groups, but these two are like a puzzle I've never seen before. It's weird ~ it's sort of like Shattered Pretty ~ It's a quest ~ an ongoing every day quest to find what will happen next.
Off to see what I can see ~ and I'm sure you will come up with a way to figure out how you and your donkey, Mabel, can meet the mystery woman. And you have plenty of other people to help you, even if you don't like meeting people. They are very outgoing sorts you know ~ off I go....
...it's a continually "koooooooool" Epic my friend ~ never ends ~ lol...
Like the serial movies of the 30's.
Buck Rodgers was, originally, a serial movie, uh, series of serial movies.
I'll look out for your Gather Group invite!
Rene, you've created a wonderful formula for us to be creative. I haven't written much fiction before, actually none at all except in poetry, so this is a fun way of trying it out.
So, many thanks and my fairy best wishes. Cheers, Iri Bell.
Thank you for coming aboard, and for the compliments relating to this project, that gets better and better as more people come on board and add to the intensity of the theme(s), subject matter(s), and topics of interests that are involved in this Epic.
Yes, we have abuse, thief, undercover agents, ufo's, aliens, church people, run~aways, escapees, pirettes, investigators, detectives, business owners, holistic~minded individuals, yoga practitioners, dead people, spiritual people, spirits, meditators, mediums, ....
and on and on...Irina ~ I'm loving it!
There's always a surprise concerning Shattered Pretty. There are comments and conversations going on 24/7 in both of Our Shattered Pretty blog spots on Gather. It is really amazing to find so many CREATIVE people on Gather. Talk about IMPROMPTU ~ amazing to watch it all come together, and keep flowing in such interesting directions. As people come on board, they just pop right into character and blend in with everyone else, so that it flows so well.
I've still got to do my BIO for Shattered Pretty, believe it or not ~ LOL! I'm so into this. We're glad you're here, and we keep our eye out for your plane!
I love reading the comments on both blog spots. I'm sometimes in stitches, and sometimes confused because things are developing so fast. I'm trying my best not to fall behind. How do you manage to keep abreast with it all?
Loking forward to reading your BIO when it's ready one of these days.
This Gather EXCLUSIVE Epic has made me laugh more than I have laughed in a long time on Gather. Everybody is so gifted!
The fast pace of this Epic is what is so exciting about it.
You've asked how do I manage to keep abreast of it all? ~ by the skin of my teeth ~ hahahah!
...oh yeah, the BIO ~ coming up!
So, your BIO is on the way...
Margarita is staying with Louisa until she makes her move.
Chocolates and More is back in good order and open for business.
Looking forward to Friday night at the Church Street Cafe and have a short poem ready.
What can be better than "fairy best wishes" ! When's Tinker Bell coming out to visit?
....ok, calming myself down ~ you say what? Margarita is still with Louisa?
....so you fixed the microwave? No more explosions? And I'm looking forward to that Poetry Reading too on Friday. And I hope no one dashes off for another plane ride, or cave hiding, or Albuquerque Meeting of Suspense ~ which we are still waiting on ~ lol...that Yoshi is slippery {raising eyebrows up and down}.
Tinker Bell or Iri Bell ~ Just saw Iri Bell jump back into her plane -- speaking of, where is Ashley and Amber?
And we're missing some more NEW Albuquerque people ~ some of whom are marplots and aliens of some sort ~ have you seen any of them LynnEllen?
{feeling light-headed} .... gotta get some green tea...
ROFL! ~ WE thank you!
Thank you for commenting!
