The stalker

Not to worry, not that kind of stalker. 

Along with hawks, we get the occasional vulture that flies over and checks out our yard. 

Bear was in the backyard barking his fuzzy head off and I wondered what on earth it was this time.  When I went out there, I saw this guy circling fairly low over our yard.

 

 

 

 

 

At first I thought it was a hawk, but then I saw from the face/beak it was a vulture/buzzard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since these lovely critters generally go after dead stuff, I wondered what it thought it saw, especially since it was flying fairly low.

 

 

 

 

I managed to get a few pictures of it before it flew away--I guess it either realized that there was nothing dead in our yard, or it saw I was taking snapshots of it. Not the most beautiful birds, but made for some interesting pictures, anyway. ;)

This is really good, I mean really really good! I very much enjoy watching hawks/eagles glide like the one in your photo essay! Nicely done!
Thank you, Kevin. :) It was kind of interesting. We've had hawks actually come and land on our back fence. They're neat birds, but unfortunately they're probably back there to snag one of our sparrows. ;/

we love watching the guy who comes and does clinics who shows his hawks, and vultures off and tells you all about them

We have tons of hawks nearby. I worry about my kitties and puppy. Thankfully my yard and house is covered with trees. That gives them some shelter...

Very good pictures. We get some wild birds in Toronto... I don't think we get hawks, but I think they're more falcons. Next time I see one I'll try to be specific. And of course lots of sparrows. :-)
I hope to get a shot of a hawk one day. On the rare occasion we've actually had them land in our backyard. I'm trying to get more in the habit of always carrying my camera with me.

I remember the first time I saw a vulture in flight...I thought it was an eagle, it was so beautiful. They really are beautiful birds.

You need to watch out for those stalkers with small breed dogs and pups around. When I lived at the trailer, I had one of these stalkers. Every time Fawn was outside, so was the stalker.
That's true, though this was a vulture, and I think it was looking for dead things.
Also, if you've seen pictures of my dog Bear (there are several here on Gather) I don't have to worry--he is anything by "small breed".
